Long Denim Jacket

Jean Jackets were always a trend for as long as I can remember. They aren’t going anywhere. Some are artsy, others are embellished. They make any casual outfit instantly look cool. I tried the trendy colored jackets in high school. Those were fun to wear, but I will always love the original blue the best. Me and my friends grew out of the phase of wearing denim skirts because they were long, thick, and uncomfortable. The sad part was that we decided to wear them in the hot, sticky, ninety-degree heat. They were uncomfortable to wear in the winter too. This piece is the perfect transition into fall. It’s so effortless. I am really enjoying one piece items that can take a outfit to the next level. It reminds me of one of those capes that the monarchs would wear, even though their capes were more elegant than what I’m wearing here.

I love how it lays on my body, without being tight. I can wear things that accentuate my body, but doesn’t hug it. I’ll let you in on a little secret; I was actually nervous to wear this because I had never worn something like this before. I took a risk and by the middle of the day, I finally felt like I could rock it. It’s like a combination of a denim jacket and a denim skirt, but it’s open at the bottom, which gives me the freedom to walk. I love fall colors such as hazelnut and burgundy. They remind me of warm coffee and the leaves that trail the sidewalk as they fall to the ground. I’m wearing a hazelnut dress underneath the jacket, which highlights my skin tone. I put a neutral tan hat on to play with the different colors. I tied a cognac belt around my waist to pull the outfit together, kind of like wrapping a present. The jacket wouldn’t look the same without wearing heels, so I chose to wear chestnut chunky heeled boots.

Sometimes nature influences me to dress in colors that reflect the colors that I see in nature. The leaves remind me of fallen rose petals and a breath of fresh air. When the wind blows them down the street, they look so free. The concept of spirit and liberation is something that is important to me. I’m a free-spirited person, so I love when my personality can be represented in something I am wearing.
