Outfit of the Day
Who says you can’t be pretty and tough? I paired this jacket from Forever 21 with this vintage polka dot skirt from Burlington Coat Factory. I’m a sucker for flowy things that sweep me off of my feet. This jacket makes me feel like I can take on my day with ease, while the skirt makes me feel like a princess dancing in the wind. When it comes to my personality, I’m a sweet person, but I don’t allow others to take advantage of me or walk over me. I demand respect because I give it. You get what you dish out. But sometimes, it doesn’t work that way. Reflecting back, I used to think that being selfless meant that my opinion didn’t matter. That I was wrong if I was the only one who believed a certain way and the majority of the people had a different opinion. But are we really wrong if we have different views? No. We were all made differently. Different backgrounds, different upbringings, different values. If we were all the same, we would be weird, clone robots wandering aimlessly for a purpose in life. Life would be boring.
Life is more interesting when your personality clashes with someone else, but you guys know that you would die for each other in a heartbeat. Or when people call you and your best friend twins because you guys act the same, approach situations the same, but are slightly different. It’s cool seeing the world through someone else’s eyes because you can see how they respond to events or their thought process. It’s like having a class read a poem or look at a painting. They’re looking at the same thing, yet they are seeing different things and are coming to different solutions. Individualism is a concept that shakes my core because I don’t want to be like anyone, but Jesus. I want to live a holy life before him. Through him I can be me, but also be obedient, humble, and holy. So don’t be afraid to go against the grain. As long as you have common sense and agree when it is the right time to agree, then it’s okay to have an opinion.
